1770s panniers

These panniers are made from the American Duchess Simplicity pattern 8579, size 14. The pattern is based on research and patterns drawn by the team at American Duchess, and is historically pretty good. I did machine-sew a good part of the project though, so that isn’t accurate!

Panniers like these gave the slightly oval shape of the skirts of gowns in the 1770s.

Fabric: Broadcloth from Spotlight

Notions: 1″ wide cotton tape

Started: 1st July 2021, finished 21st July 2021.

Made according to the pattern.
